Finally after two years Japanese Company Honda has launched its new version of Jazz Hatchback car in India. It is the third generation of Jazz and will be competing against Hyundai’s i20 Elite and Volkswagen’s Polo Hatchbacks. On the launch the price announced for the all new Honda jazz lies between Rs. 5.31 lac and Rs. 8.59 lac for all its models.
The new Jazz would be available in both diesel (1.5Li-DTEC engine) and petrol (1.2 L i-VTEC) fuel variants. While the petrol version comes with seven variants priced between Rs. 5.31 lac and Rs. 7.85 lac, the diesel engine has five variants priced at Rs. 6.50 lac – Rs. 8.59 lac.
President and CEO of HCIL, Mr. Katsushi Inoue said at the launch event, “The all new Jazz will be a key pillar of business and would be instrumental in driving the growth for Honda Cars in India”.
“The company has been able to achieve a higher degree of localisation (95 per cent) compared to just 72 per cent in the earlier Jazz. A greater localisation enables the company to price the vehicle more aggressively. The company is also exporting the new Jazz to markets like South Africa.”, he added.
India is the first country where Jazz would be offered with a diesel powertrain and Honda says, apart from India, there is no plan to introduce a diesel Jazz anywhere in the world. The new car has been developed at Honda’s R&D centre located in Tochigi, Japan.Jazz was first launched in India in 2009, but the company stopped production of the car in the country in 2013.
Honda Jazz is one of the company’s most popular cars with sales of more than 5.5 million units since 2001 in 75 countries and in the new model the company has made several changes. The new car has features such as touchscreen audio and navigation system, three-mode rear parking camera, audio controls on the steering wheel and hands-free telephone capacity.
The Jazz, with a new design and features like foldable rear seat, dual airbags and anti-lock brake system, claims to offer a mileage of 27.3 km a litre on diesel engine and 18.7 km a litre for the petrol manual transmission variant. The company is offering a two-year or 40,000 km warranty on all variants.
