There are also speculations that JEE Main will be held multiple times in a year in alliance to other global exams such as SAT and TOEFL. Changes are awaited for as and when the National Testing Service (NTS) takes over the conducting of the aptitude test.

Now, for the second and the most important hurdle in IIT dreams of many students- JEE Advanced, will held on March 20 this year. According to reports, the new format will be in line with the exam pattern for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. The important point to be noted is that the exam will be fully computer based this year i.e. the candidates will be able to take the exam only in online mode.

JEE Advanced is conducted in two parts- Paper I and Paper II on the same day in two different session i.e. morning and evening. As per the initial proposal, the students will not be allowed in the hall after 9:00 am for the morning session and after 2:00 pm for the afternoon session. The keyboard will be nonfunctional and any answer entered should be typed using the virtual keyboard given on screen.

In case of system malfunctions, the student will be allotted new system immediately and the servers will automatically adjust their lost time. Also, there will be an onscreen clock counter for time reference.

A virtual calculator will be provided by on screen which can be used for quick calculations by the students. Students can also navigate between the sections as well as the questions as per their ease. All the details for above actions will be given in the instructions hence, one must read them carefully.

Also, the candidates have an option to toggle between the language of the paper i.e. English/Hindi.

Scribble Pads will be provided to the candidates for doing rough work/calculations, required to be submitted for exiting the hall.

Only pens, pencils, downloaded admit card and an original photo identity card are allowed inside the hall. Do not carry any electronic devices, abacus, slide rule, log books, study material of any type, geometry box, written or white (blank) paper/piece of paper and wallets to the examination hall.

Candidates are advised not to tamper with wiring or electronic system as the violation of this rule can lead to suspension. They cannot leave the hall before the end of the examination time i.e. 12pm for morning session and 5 pm for evening session.

The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has released the official notification for the examination on the official site of JEE Advanced. Student can take a look at it and go through the details in the information brochure. There are numerous mock tests available on the official site for the examination. Candidates are advised to attempt them beforehand so as to get comfortable with the testing pattern and environment. Also there’s a help video available for the Mock Tests and Computer based Test (CBT) for reference.

The exact responses of the candidate will be mailed to their registered email ids within a week and the answer key will be displayed online by May 29. Students can send their feedbacks on the answer key till March 30 through their respective candidate portals. The result is scheduled to be announced on June 10.

This is a great measure considering the anxiety linked to the exam results and also increases the transparency and ease of evaluation for the candidates.
